Mantra Koodam - CGH Earth

We came for four nights and could easily have stayed longer. The cottages sit among lovely grounds and wildlife, making it a really calm place to relax. Our room was comfortable, and the pool beneath the trees was beautiful. We also joined the village cycle ride and an early morning bird walk. Both were fantastic, thanks to a brilliant guide. The restaurant was another highlight, with great food and wonderful staff. We’ll certainly book CGH Earth hotels on our next trip to India.

The tea kadai might have been my favourite part of our stay at Mantra Koodam! We also loved the pool and the range of activities. With nature all around, the place felt wonderfully peaceful, and it was a great base for visiting the ancient temples. The rooms were lovely, with gorgeous architecture and verandas where you could sit and take in the view. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, especially Shanmugapriya and the rest of the staff. Such a beautiful place. I’d recommend it 100%.

We came to Kumbakonam for a wedding and stayed three nights. The surroundings are beautiful, and our room was well equipped, with clean facilities throughout. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome. Service was excellent, and the restaurant food was really good. My wife and I also had an aturveed massage at the spa, which was simply amazing.

Being away from the city was nice, and my daughter enjoyed the fish feeding and lamp lighting. The evening tea kadai was good for snacks, the breakfast had lots of choices, and the staff were friendly, kind, and helpful. But I wouldn’t stay here again. The room was old and needed maintenance, and the open bathroom was a serious problem for me. There were frogs and lizards in it at night, and using it around 5 a.m. while a frog jumped around was frightening. I was also greeted by a large dead cockroach. Please update the rooms and close off the bathrooms with glass so there’s a view without reptiles and insects getting in. The prices didn’t feel justified. The room was 11k and breakfast cost extra at 650. Dinner was expensive and not worth the money. The leaf veg lunch was 1500 plus tax, which felt excessive and, to me, like a way of taking advantage of foreign tourists. The herbal powders provided as toiletries caused severe itching at night, so I wouldn’t recommend using them. Don’t expect a luxury stay for the price. The place is far from the temples we wanted to visit and from everything else, so you’re pushed to eat the expensive food there. Overall, the room wasn’t worth the cost and felt like a waste of money.
