Room service and the staff were good, but the stay itself was nowhere near a three-star hotel. It felt like an AC lodge. I'd booked Hotel ark inn near the new bus stand in Kumbakonam through MakeMyTrip after the listed amenities and photos impressed me. What was advertised wasn't what we got. The room smelled as soon as we walked in, was untidy, and looked cheap. The photos may have been from when it opened, perhaps five or six years ago. I expected better because it was a branch of the other lea ark inn, but that wasn't the case. We were traveling as a family and booked two ground-floor rooms. They weren't maintained: the TV had a line through the picture, bathroom taps leaked, the fan regulator didn't work, and the kettle looked like it hadn't been used in ages. Some sockets and lights didn't work. There were no toiletries, intercom, tissues, glasses, or anything like that. The local blankets weren't washed, and the beds were stained with old pillows. The bathroom was only so-so. The main plus is being close to the bus stand, though the lanes are narrow if you're driving. Parking is tricky, underground, and has room for only five cars. Shops are nearby and tea is easy to get, but there’s no restaurant or food service on site. If you only need somewhere to freshen up, it may do, but for the price, staying there isn't worth it. It doesn't deserve even one star.

The non-AC room we booked for February 24 was decent, with a sofa and a large restroom, and hot water was available. The TV picture had lines and we had to call the room boy each time to turn it on properly. The rate was 1,500 Rs per day. Bring your original aadaar card. They’re also connected with esha travels for car service, and you can trust them for planned temple visits. I'd suggest noting down the temples before leaving your hometown.
Checking in late at night left me with no real option to leave with my family, though otherwise I wouldn't have stayed. The smell in the room was strong and unpleasant from the moment we entered, and the place was badly maintained. The sheets and towels smelled so bad that we couldn't sleep properly all night. Cleanliness and hygiene clearly weren't taken seriously. Room service was also very poor and unresponsive. It was a stressful, disappointing stay. Management should improve hygiene, cleanliness, and basic upkeep. Until then, I can't recommend it, especially for families.
Rooms on the side away from the bus stop are fine. Avoid one facing it, since buses honk constantly through the night. The rooms are clean and decent, with hot water, AC, and good parking. The location near the bus stop can be convenient, though it's away from the main temple area. There are enough autos for getting around. Service was nonexistent. An average stay, not great, but an option at a reasonable price if nothing else is available.
The rooms are decent and service was good, but getting to the hotel and parking a car are the main challenges. The road in is narrow. They have basement parking, but it was full when I arrived, so I had to leave the car on the road beside the hotel. It's near the bus stand and is a budget place with basic, decent facilities.
