Raku Guest House

Magnificent views and a dedicated bonfire spot, with the main market about a 10-minute walk or 3-4 minutes by bike. The rooms are clean, spacious, and the staff are good. The washroom feels a bit cramped, especially the shower partition, which is why I’m giving four stars.

The hosts are so warm and lovely. Whenever I felt tired and wanted something refreshing, I could pop into the kitchen and ask aunty for a warm mint tea. I stayed here with friends on my last trip to Leh. It’s a beautiful property with an amazing garden and stunning views. There are lots of nice places to eat in Leh, but try a meal or two at Raku. The dishes use fresh produce from the garden, and you can really taste the difference. Everything’s so flavourful, you might overeat a little, so watch out.

The host family were incredibly helpful with trip planning, taxis and permits. Our rooms were clean and nice, and breakfast was great. We had an outstanding stay.

The garden, with its apple and apricot trees, is a lovely place to relax, and both the older and newer rooms are very nice. The owner’s family were great and helped with anything we needed. Just keep in mind the walk into town and the market takes 10-15 minutes.
