Khandala Valley Retreat

We booked the Valley View room with a sit-out, and watching clouds pass over the hills with a cup of coffee was worth every penny. The sunrise from the room was a real wow. It was quiet and private, away from the tourist noise, and the staff were incredibly warm and made sure we had what we needed for a relaxing stay. A perfect romantic escape.

Basic things were missing, including handwash, a pillow, a bucket, and even a dustbin. The staff didn't seem helpful or interested, and the air conditioner wasn't working, so it was uncomfortable. The washroom was dirty and the tap didn't work properly. I found hair in the rice, and they served expired cold drinks, which made me question their quality standards. A very disappointing experience, and I wouldn't recommend the place.

The photos gave a very different impression from the actual property, and hygiene was awful. Spider webs were all over, and nothing seemed clean, including the games and activity areas. Our room hadn't been properly cleaned after the previous guests. The cupboards smelled terrible, the floors were dirty, and the toilet was completely unclean. The bedsheets smelled too, and the room had a terrible odor. I wouldn't recommend this place.

We came for a weekend with our two kids and senior parents, and the room was spacious enough that none of us felt cramped. The kids enjoyed the swimming pool, and evenings in the games room playing carrom were fun. The food suited them too, home-cooked and not too spicy. Because it's a little away from the main road, it felt safe. A quiet, homely place for family time away from the chaos of Lonavala city.
