The Tarang is still one of my favourite places to stay, and I like everything else about it. It has very good infrastructure, plenty of facilities, and some of the best service I've experienced, which is why I've stayed often. This visit was spoiled by a terrible smell from the bathroom toilet, bad enough to give me a headache. I reported it at reception, and they changed my room quickly and politely, but later I found the same problem in the second room. The hotel administration needs to address this, since clean-smelling bathrooms are one of the most basic things a hotel should provide.

Nothing worked properly: the charging points were all dead, and the lights didn't work either. The rooms were dirty, the bathrooms stank, the sheets were soiled, cobwebs were everywhere, and the curtains looked like they had never been washed. This is the worst hotel anyone could stay in. If I could give negative five, I would. Stay somewhere else or your Lucknow trip will be ruined.

The breakfast was nice, but the bathrooms smelled so bad that I asked for freshener and still couldn't get past the odor. The nearby road gets busy at times, with horns going constantly.

The room, price, and location were great for 800, so four stars for those. The food was terrible and overpriced, just one star for that.
