Hotel Akil Towers by OYO Rooms

I visited with my family in Aug 2025, and the way the staff treated us was embarrassing. The rooms were bad and old, the bathrooms weren’t clean, and the receptionist and staff were extremely rude. They even started fighting with us, which I never expected. I urge people going to Madurai not to stay here. With the Temple right nearby, I don’t understand how hotel staff can treat pilgrims this way. I personally experienced it, and I repeat, please avoid this place.

I checked other hotels later and found better facilities for the same money. This room was worth 600 at most for a night, especially with the high price, poor upkeep, no Wi-Fi, and no recharge for the setup box. They also made me pay the full amount at check-in. I’d avoid it.

For a temple darshan, the place works: you can bathe, head straight to the temple, then come back and check out. The bathrooms are decent enough for a bath. Hygiene is poor at hotels around here, with cockroaches and rats common. Single rooms usually cost 1200-1500, which feels absurdly high, though it’s much the same everywhere.

I only gave this place a star because I had no other option. The owner was extremely rude, and we had to pay everything before check-in. Once they had the money, we were treated like we had no choice but to stay. The rooms are old and dirty. A stay here can spoil the sacred experience of visiting Meenakshi Amman Temple, so please avoid it.
