The location is the one good point, since it's very close to the railway station. I don't recommend the place overall. The cleanliness and service are poor, and they don't allow late checkout for online bookings. If they do allow it, they charge a very high rate. I booked a double AC room, but it wasn't spacious at all, although the bathroom was very large. The bathroom was quite dirty and had cockroaches; the bed sheets were only average. When I tried to pay by UPI or card, the staff said they only took cash because the card machines weren't working, so I had to go out and get money from an ATM. This is maintained by Madurai cooperation, which may explain the poor service and cleanliness.

The temple is within walking distance, and the hotel is right opposite the railway station. Parking is behind the hotel, with room for five or six cars at once. Google Maps may direct you to the front gate instead. We booked two rooms for 2000 plus tax. It's a budget place with average facilities, not too bad, and the rooms are smaller than the bathrooms but big enough for two. They provide toiletries but no towels. Reception staff weren't friendly, which is about what I'd expect from a hotel run by the corporation. The parking security guy, though, was helpful and had some common sense. Shabri hotel nearby is the best option for vegetarian food. That's all I remember. Don't let the negative comments put you off if you're planning a one or two day stay.

For a decent hotel near the station at a reasonable price, this worked well. We booked by phone since we were arriving at 4 AM. It's directly opposite the railway station, easy to find, and convenient for getting around the city. Almost every auto driver and Swiggy delivery boy seems to know it. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a decent stay within ₹1500.

The location is handy, directly opposite madurai railway station, so there's no need to bargain with auto drivers. Price-wise the room is okay, and the bathroom is more spacious than the bedroom. But if you want to watch TV in your room, don't pick this place. It still doesn't have digital cable.
