Hotel Stone House

I couldn’t sleep all night because there were insects in the room, and I was scared. It felt like a ghost night, and I was just waiting for the sun to come up so I could leave early. The stay spoiled my trip. I was in a three-room villa with no hygiene maintained, no phone service, and no television. The room doors weren’t in order. Monkeys are likely to come in if you happen to open a window. Don’t choose this poor hotel.

The location is the nicest part. It’s less than a five-minute walk from the market and bus stand, but the surroundings are so quiet and serene you wouldn’t guess the market is that close. Tea or coffee was available on request, and the staff were polite and helpful, with good sightseeing suggestions. It’s a simple, relaxed place in Mahabaleshwar. The clean, well-kept property has three-bedroom row houses that you can book as one unit or as individual rooms. The basic provisions were enough for a comfortable stay.

It’s a quiet, beautiful place to relax, close to the market but away from its crowds and noise. There’s no pool, but the rest was there, including a lawn and a small garden with slides for children. The layout has three bedrooms with balconies and a living area. It’s ideal for a family or a group of 15.

The biggest problem was the lack of power backup. We were in the dark for almost four hours. The TVs didn’t work at all because the owner hadn’t paid for the DTH subscriptions, and there was no landline in the villa. We had to call the staff for everything, but his phone was mostly unreachable. For Rs.10 k for three rooms, the facilities felt too expensive. We thought we could have booked three good hotel rooms for that price. There’s parking for a personal car, and the main market is only 1 km away. The villa has enough bed space for two extra people, though we were eight. Only one person was doing everything, but he tried to handle our requests. They also have a boiler, so hot water was available even in rainy, non-sunny weather.
