MWC Club by Downtown

The club is a peaceful oasis away from traffic and pollution, with a well maintained gym and swimming pool, a very good buffet, and friendly customer service. I especially enjoyed the quiet mornings on the sweeping lawns, doing my daily yoga with peacocks, robins, crows, and cranes around. That kind of calm and connection with nature is rare at a club. The food was outstanding, both in SpiceRoute restaurant and in the room. Lunch and dinner were consistently excellent in quality and presentation. I particularly liked the vegetable fried rice with pepper fried prawns, ghee rice with chettinadu veggie gravy, and mutton pepper fry. There’s also a good selection of wine, beer, and scotch. The swimming pool, SpiceRoute restaurant, and Phoenix Restobar were all highlights. The staff were warm and knew how to look after guests. The owner is a fellow alumnus of TCE Madurai, a few years my junior, and his care, discipline, and vision are clear in the details around the club. If you want great food, a clean setting, or just a quiet lawn to stretch with the local birds, I highly recommend MWC Club by Downtown. It felt like an oasis.

At Mahindra Club bar, a staff member named Lucky shared when I visited and details of my alcohol consumption with other customers who know me personally. I’m extremely disappointed. Customers should be able to expect discretion and professionalism, and this was a serious breach of my privacy. I hope management takes it seriously and makes sure this doesn’t happen again.

The Phoenix bar manager treated us terribly, like we weren’t customers at all. The behaviour felt cheap, like a local bar, and completely unprofessional. When there was a discrepancy, they didn’t try to resolve it. They just told us to leave and treated us like shit.

The staff were very cooperative, and the rooms were clean and luxurious. It’s a nice place, and I had a comfortable stay.
