Antriksh Cottage Manali

You can hear the river running right in front of the cottage all the time, which I loved. The mountain view is lovely too, and the backyard is a nice sunny spot during the day. The rooms have great interiors and amenities. There’s a kitchen serving delicious food as well. I’d recommend staying here.

The lawn was nice and the room stayed warm. Staff were helpful, and there’s parking. A couple of things let it down: there was no bathroom kit available, and the solar heating wasn’t working when we needed it. You’ll also have to be okay with climbing some stairs.

We loved having coffee and Gobi pakoras on the rooftop, looking out at the snow-covered mountains and listening to the stream below. Antriksh Cottage is tucked away from the busy city streets, but Mall road is about 1 km away. We took a rickshaw there, since it can get crowded, especially late in the evening. It’s a budget-friendly place that still feels cozy and scenic. The rooms were clean, neat, and suited our family well. With trees and a stream around the cottage, we didn’t need a fan or A/C, and hot water was available all the time. The owner and in-house staff were humble and polite, and always ready to help. We enjoyed the simple bread omelette and the aloo and mix veg parathas.

The good part was the tasty food. The rest of my February 2020 visit was disappointing. The first room had a broken wash basin tap and no water, and in the second room the toilet flush didn’t work. The room smelled bad and felt unhygienic. There was no lock on the washroom door, towels weren’t provided daily, and hot water wasn’t continuous. The receptionist also came across as uneducated.
