Gautam Shala Cottage

The balcony and lovely views made our family stay really enjoyable. The rooms matched their photos, were excellent, and had neat bathrooms. The cottage is calm, with no pollution, and at night you can hear the river, which feels very nice. The owner and his brother are very kind and help with whatever you need. I’m from Tamilnadu and only know English, but it was easy to talk with them. They arranged all the sightseeing too. The owner really is a one-man army.

The cottage was just as described, and Meru was a great host. After five weeks travelling around India, this was the highlight of my trip. It’s a bit outside the main town, which meant peace and quiet, hardly any tourists, and amazing views. Waking up to Rohtang Pass in the Himalayas and the sound of the Beas River felt surreal. We also loved meeting Meru’s family during the festival. Thanks, Meru, and say hi to Shivam for us! We had a great stay and won’t forget it. :)

We stayed from Dec 29, 2018 to Jan 2, 2019. It’s an offbeat spot with beautiful views of snow-covered mountains and a waterfall. The rooms were very clean, and Ashwani Thakur provided superb service. I really appreciate your kindness, Ashu Thakur.

We had the place to ourselves when we visited in winter. It’s a cozy, peaceful spot away from the noisy streets, with a really good view. The host and his family were kind and attentive.
