Artisan Resort and Cafe

The best thing about Artisan - Resort & Cafe is the staff. They were lovely and tried to make my stay comfortable, and the restaurant had decent food and friendly service. The WiFi worked great, the rooms were spotless, the shower water was really warm, and the beach is less than a five-minute walk away. The room itself was the problem. It was tiny, with barely enough space to move or store anything, and the bathroom was so small there wasn’t even room for a toothbrush. The mattress was awful, with springs that hurt. I’d prepaid for four nights at nearly 2.5 times the price, so I had to stay on it the whole time, and my back and shoulders were still hurting afterward. Sound carried badly from the neighboring rooms and outside. I wouldn’t take a ground-floor room either, since footsteps upstairs woke me, and one morning a child above me was jumping on the bed. If the restaurant has a special theme, expect loud music after midnight. It’s only five meters from the rooms and the poor soundproofing doesn’t help. Breakfast starts at 9 am, which may be too late for some people. Calling it a resort feels like a stretch. At best, it’s a poorly built guesthouse with nicer interiors. I booked based on earlier reviews and wanted to give an honest account, not just paint a rosy picture. My complaints are about the building, its construction, and the room.
