Club Mahindra Lake View Munnar

The beautiful view was the one thing we liked about this property. It couldn’t make up for the poor service, room problems, or high prices, though. Our washbasin and shower area leaked, the Wi-Fi barely worked, and power cuts were frequent. The resort is around 30 km from the main town, with no markets, restaurants, or conveniences nearby, so guests have little choice but to depend on its overpriced food and services. Meals took nearly an hour to prepare and another hour to arrive, and the food itself was heavily overpriced. Simple requests also took far too long, with virtually no management oversight. For the premium price, the whole experience fell well short of expectations. I wouldn’t recommend this resort or stay here again.

The peaceful, green setting and scenic views made Club Mahindra Mount Serene a pleasant place to get away from the city. The rooms were comfortable, and Manu was responsive and helpful throughout. Ilango, our trekking guide, made the trek engaging with his friendly manner and good knowledge of the trails. A few things could be better: the lift smelled unpleasant, and staff hospitality felt less proactive than at other Club Mahindra resorts we’ve visited, including Virajpet and Pondicherry. Food variety and pricing could improve too. With more attention to maintenance and service, this calm and scenic property could leave guests even happier. 🌿🙂

The road is fine until the main turn, but the final 4 km to the property is in extremely poor shape and makes the drive unpleasant. The room and property were in poor condition as well: the bathroom and balcony smelled strongly of urine, the walls were dirty, and the towels didn’t seem clean. It all looked old and neglected. We had to ask for a room change, which made an already frustrating stay worse. I’ve rarely been this disappointed, and wouldn’t recommend the place unless there are serious improvements.

Basic amenities were missing: dental kits were only provided when requested, and the toilets didn’t have essentials that a decent resort should supply by default. At checkout, we waited, but no staff member or room boy came. The buffet was awful and poorly managed, with no dish labels or separate serving spoons and spatulas, which made it confusing and unhygienic. There’s no toddler play area, either, which was inconvenient for families. My first room had a pathetic view of dirty areas outside. They moved me to one with a better view the next day, but that should have been sorted from the start. The food, facilities, and service were all far below expectations, and it wasn’t worth the money.
