Hotel SCVDS

We found ourselves in Mysore on a busy day with no rooms available, so we booked here. The staff carried all our luggage from the car to the room and back, and they treated us very well. When my child got sick, they took our prescription and quickly got medicine. My child also wanted a simple Tamilnadu tiffin, so they went out and brought some for us. There’s room service too, and the hotel is close to the palace and other major places, which made it convenient for our family. The building is old and the paint is dull. The ceiling fan hangs so low that my bedsheet caught on it when I tried to fold it. The bathroom and toilet looked clean but didn’t feel neat, and the room cost Rs.1300, which seemed high for what it was. During peak season, though, rooms are hard to find and nearly all hotels raise prices.

The location is the one good thing. The rooms are very old, the switches and TV didn’t work, and the fan was only okay, with no setting higher than 3. Bathroom windows had no proper covering, which could make women feel uncomfortable. The bathrooms weren’t very good, and there’s no Wi-Fi. The stay itself was good, but the hotel isn’t maintained well.

We paid the full amount online for two nights, but transportation delays meant we arrived late. By then, they’d given our room to someone else without checking with us. When we got to the hotel, the response was awful. They said they had called to confirm before cancelling, but we never got any such call. It felt like money mattered to them more than treating people decently. One of the worst experiences I’ve had.

They charged Rs. 1800 for a room that was definitely not worth the money. It’s a very basic place and I wouldn’t choose it for a family. There was no TV, towel or soap, and just one charging point. The bathroom was awful: water got into the room whenever we used it, and the taps kept running.
