Hotel Vakratunda

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean. Dinner was served only until 10 P.M., but otherwise the stay was pleasant. I’d booked two rooms through MMT, but they told the hotel to reserve just one, which made the booking experience with Make my trip awful. The hotel staff helped make up for it by offering me another room at a reasonable price. The location was lovely for watching the sunset.

This is a budget hotel at the far end of Naddi, not up in upper Dharmashala. The rooms have balconies, and some look out over the mountains. They come with the usual basics, including a gyser, kettle, toiletries, tea maker, water, and TV. The staff were good and the service was fine, though there’s no non-veg food, not even an omelet. The main drawback was the crowd. Agents use the hotel for bulk bookings, and our group was noisy and crowded. My kid couldn’t sleep until 11.30 because the group was shouting over dinner. We complained and the hotel did manage to quiet them down. The bulk group also had a separate kitchen, leaving no seats for us in the dining area, so we had to eat in our rooms. It’s a decent hotel if you don’t run into one of those big groups.

We had a room on the third floor facing the Dhauladhar range, with a spacious balcony where we could sit and take in the view. The sliding glass doors on two sides also gave us a wide view from indoors. The valley-facing rooms looked just as good. The location is one of the best in Naddi, and the staff were courteous. Food was good and reasonably priced. You can relax at the hotel or take a short nature walk toward the yoga ashram for spectacular views. Highly recommend it for a peaceful, positive stay.
