Hotel Udupi International

The party hall we visited was decent, and both breakfast and lunch were good. The hotel is very close to the bus stand in Nagercoil, so it’s easy to reach from all parts of the city. A nice place to stay in Nagercoil.

We arrived at 7 and didn’t leave until 9:30. The food took 75 minutes to arrive, and when it finally came it was cold, tasteless, and had a horrible texture. The waiters barely attended to us and didn’t bring what we asked for. The person taking our order was rude and unprofessional, and yelled back when we asked about the delay. For the prices and tax they charge, the food, service, and ambience should be much better. It took 45 minutes to come, and everything was awful on top of the hefty prices. Don’t waste your time or money, or spoil your mood by going here.

Breakfast starts at 6, which is useful if you have a packed itinerary, and parking is available. There’s a decent vegetarian restaurant, and the front desk was responsive. The room was neat and clean, with enough space for a couple, and the hotel is on distillery road about a minute’s walk from Nagercoil bus terminal. I stayed one night and was comfortable, so I’d recommend it. The building has aged, though it’s reasonably maintained, and the bathroom fixtures need upgrading. The bathroom and lavatory are very compact, with hardly room to use the washbasin. Breakfast is à la carte rather than a buffet, and the price is a little high.

Some cockroaches may end up sharing the decent rooms with you. There’s a veg restaurant with a variety of choices, though coordinating with the staff can take some time. Drinking water is only available in packaged bottles for purchase. Some staff members are friendly and helpful.
