We were in a first-floor family room at Shivraj Hotel, and the bedsheets, quilt, everything was filthy. There was hair, dirt, a bad smell, even someone’s nose mucus! I honestly felt like puking. With my 70+ mother with me, we couldn't leave during the night, so we left early morning without even brushing. Dirtiest, most unhygienic hotel ever, not recommended at all.

The rooms look dated, and there were spiders around. The washroom smelled bad and felt unhygienic. From the moment I arrived, I felt I’d paid far too much for a place where nothing was good.

The food was average, and the room had no bathroom slippers. The TV signal was poor, and the door latches and electricity were unreliable. The room itself was small, but the balcony had a lake view.

The lake view from the hotel is lovely, and it’s near Mall Road. I stayed one day with my family, but the basic services were lacking. There was no regular iron, toothpaste, or tea and coffee powder with the kettle, and when I asked, they refused. Room service also didn’t answer the intercom despite my trying several times. My experience was average. The 3.9 rating might improve if they made a little more effort with service.

The restaurant served very good homely food, and the employees were helpful with good service. The property is right on Mall Road, with a panoramic view of all Nainital from the second-floor terrace. The place is beautiful, and the wood interiors in each room are tastefully done. We had an awesome experience.
