Hotel Channi Raja

The art inside makes a distinctive impression as soon as you enter reception. I happened to meet the owner in the lift and praised his and the team's taste in decorating the floors with paintings, sculptures, and other unusual pieces. The hotel's right on Nainital Mall Road, opposite Mallital and Naini Lake, with lovely views and fresh air from the fourth-floor terrace. Nearby tourist spots are just a shout away. The staff were friendly and helpful, and guided me through everything. For the room price, the amenities were in great condition. I only wished a dental kit and other guest kits were provided at check-in, and that breakfast was included. Those weren't deal breakers, since there are plenty of food options along Mall Road. The hotel also offers paid breakfast, lunch, dinner, and room service, while the attached Gianis restaurant serves nice, generous food. Highly recommended for Mallital, Nainital. The food at the hotel and restaurant was a highlight. Everything we tried was superb, including the masala gobhi and daal. I stayed two nights in room 302 on the third floor, and it was a lovely experience. The room had a beautiful lake view, and afternoon sunlight streamed in until evening, making it a gorgeous spot to sit with a coffee. Our room was ready before we arrived, and check-in took only two minutes. The staff were helpful and the rooms were great. I had a relaxing stay at Channi Raja, and would recommend it for solo travelers and families. 👌

We stayed on 6-7 Dec 2025, and Hotel Channi Raja made our Nainital trip memorable. The restaurant food was delicious, the staff polite and attentive, and the owner himself was very helpful. The whole place is artistically designed, and the terrace has a fantastic lake view. We had a Super Deluxe Room with Sofa cum Bed, spacious and comfortable for three adults. For the price, facilities, and cleanliness, it was a great deal. The location is in the liveliest part of Mall Road, near public parking, which made visits to Mall Road, Naina Devi Temple, lake boating, and local taxis exceptionally convenient. The Super Deluxe room was smaller than I hoped, and the bathroom felt cramped and a little uncomfortable to use. I found the décor overwhelming at times, too, and it didn't have the calming feel I expected. The stay was otherwise fine, but the space and design could be better.
