Taj Corbett Resort & Spa, Uttarakhand

Our villa was tucked among mango trees, bamboo, and flowering plants, with a lovely sense of calm all around. We had evening high tea overlooking the Kosi River, and joined rejuvenating yoga sessions with Nitin ji and the other guests. Those moments gave the stay a real feeling of warmth and community. The staff were welcoming, caring, and attentive. Taj pampered us, and we’re already looking forward to coming back.

The safari we arranged through Taj was well organized, and we saw plenty of monkeys and birds among the lovely plant life in this national park area. Mr Suraj in the restaurant and Mr Fakhir from housekeeping were particularly attentive. They even arranged a cake cutting for my daughter’s birthday, which was a nice touch. The Thai restaurant food and afternoon à la carte were good, though the all-inclusive buffet was very average. The pool water was cold and not temperature controlled. The Kosi River setting is peaceful, especially at breakfast with the sound of flowing water and live music, and the property has good decor. But the place feels dated and needs renovation. Our first room smelled damp and seemed to have possible fungus on the walls, though they quickly moved us to another room. The extra bed was uncomfortable too, and they changed it after I raised the issue. I shouldn’t have to complain about these things, especially at an expensive Taj property where expectations are high. It was a pleasant stay, but it could have been better.

The local dishes at breakfast were delicious, and the housekeeping team were friendly and very attentive. I also liked the evening room service, a thoughtful touch. The Tiger safari was a bit disappointing. It would make the stay more memorable if they offered activities like local cooking classes, wildlife conservation, or sustainable farming. I’d be keen to try those if they’re added.

We kept wishing we had more time for the special anniversary celebration, the incredible views, and the thoughtful room service. There was also so much to do throughout the day, with a terrific activity plan. Pankaj took care of our check-in and check-out and set a warm tone for the whole visit. From being escorted to reception when we arrived to the heartfelt send-off at the gates, the service felt like coming home. Taj Corbett is beautiful, from its location to the food, and I can’t recommend it enough. I can’t wait to return.
