Whispering Heights

The staff made this stay for us. They worked hard despite being few in number, and you could see them going up and down the mountain all day. They even took us on the 3-4 km walk to the Apricot garden, which was a good experience. Food was freshly made and tasty, and ordering at the property worked well since there aren't many good places to eat nearby. We visited Whispering Heights with family in June 2019 while exploring Mukteshwar. It's around 10-15 km from Mukteshwar, and we picked it because it was on the way to Almora and other places we wanted to see. Follow Google Maps and call once you get there, otherwise it's hard to find. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and clean, though there were spiders. The property is literally on a mountain, and we didn't explore the upper parts because of the climb. A good stay overall.

We came back for a second visit because we liked the hotel and the people so much. The staff were kind and polite, and made the place feel like home. They cooked really well and served everything with such care. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the service was excellent, and the food was superb. They can set up a bonfire and barbecue before you arrive, and you can get what you need right at your doorstep. The rates are so reasonable you might not believe them. If there were more than five stars, I'd give them.

Mr Menon is a great person and clearly doing his best to look after the property. He was the one good part of my stay. The furnishings and comfort weren't satisfactory, though, so even though I booked two nights, I moved elsewhere after just one.

A quiet place in the forest, in the Nathukhan area, about 10 km from Mukhteshwar. You have to walk to get there since cars can't reach the property. We brought our pet dog, and the hotel was genuinely pet friendly.
