The three staff members, including the cook, did a decent job and made food according to our needs. Still, our four-day family stay was pretty average because basic management was lacking. Bathrooms were missing toiletries, toothpaste, and handwash, there wasn’t running water when we needed it, and the upstairs bathroom had no lock. Prakaash, the caretaker, was rarely around and wasn’t helpful when he was. He often argued instead of sorting things out. He said a tanker couldn’t be called because the house was locked, but we had checked in by 4 PM on 11th April and left around 6:30 PM for an outing. The water had already run out before we left, which suggests the house hadn’t been checked and prepared. My family repeatedly had to ask for essentials, with slow replies. I hoped it would improve during the first two days, but it didn’t. If you’re booking for a large family, I’d think twice. We had several avoidable problems, and other guests could face them too.

The rooftop sunsets were a lovely bonus when we stayed in, though getting up there gave us a bit of cardio. We were a large group, and there was enough room for everyone to spend time together or have space of their own. My room was comfortable, nicely furnished, and had an attached bathroom with amenities. The whole property, including the lobby and pool, was spotless, and housekeeping was available whenever we let them know we needed help. The Clarence Cottage team were warm and quick to handle our requests. Sonu(Chef), Ajay(Caretaker), and Prakash were especially helpful, and we appreciated our welcoming host Amesh too. It made for a peaceful, luxurious break, and I’d recommend it to friends or families looking for a relaxing group stay.

It felt like a home away from home, thanks to the exceptional service and the spacious, well-kept rooms. I’ll definitely book a stay here again on my next trip to Goa.
