The hotel's location was good, and the food tasted decent, but the stay at Hotel De Alcazar was only average and fell short of what I expected. The cleanliness and upkeep need serious work. There were cockroaches in both the room and kitchen, bathroom tiles were dirty, and the chairs and tables were dusty. Some sheets were torn and had cigarette burn marks. The pool and its surrounding area were also unclean, and one day the lift stopped working. The buffet was poorly arranged at busy times, even though the food itself tasted good. I've travelled widely and usually had excellent hotel stays, but this one didn't meet that standard. The property has potential because of its location, but hygiene, cleanliness, and maintenance need substantial improvement for guests to have a better experience.

The rooms were dirty, and the bed was badly damaged, so I didn't feel it was safe to sleep on. There were exposed electrical wires around the hotel, and the lift had a broken floor platform that seemed dangerous. The lift also smelled bad. The bathroom bucket was made of degradable plastic, and the TV didn't work because there was no set-top box. No one was at the reception counter, and there were many dogs wandering nearby, which seemed harmful. The cleanliness was very poor. Don't visit this hotel. The owner is very bad. The stay was a bad experience overall. They advertise the place as 3-star on site, but I wouldn't give it even one star. The service and facilities were very bad. There was no hot water, the bathroom exhaust fan didn't work, and the TV was just there as a showpiece. Cleaning wasn't available, and they didn't provide bath soap, toothpaste, or a toothbrush. Totally disappointed.

The atmosphere was awful, and I wouldn't recommend this place at all. The pool was dirty and nothing like its photo, while the bathroom was extremely dirty and smelled bad. The bed felt unsafe and uncomfortable, and the water pressure was very low. We left our scooter downstairs and people spat on it, but the manager just said, "ok?" and did nothing. We'd called ahead to say we'd be late and asked them to save some food, but they didn't. When we called later, they complained that we were late.

We couldn't even get a few hours of rest at De Alcazar, Calangute, Goa. There were cockroaches all over the room and bed bugs on the bed. The mattress and pillows were stained, smelled bad, and looked like they hadn't been washed in ages. The room itself was filthy, poorly maintained, and extremely unhygienic. The staff were rude and careless, acting as if the dirt was normal instead of addressing our complaints. The owner seemed arrogant and completely unconcerned about guests. The food was low quality, unhygienic, and best avoided. This was a nightmare, a health hazard, and a waste of money. It shouldn't even be called a hotel. Please stay away. There are far better options in Goa. Highly NOT recommended.
