Fairstay Holiday Resort Ooty

The peaceful setting at Fairstay Ooty made it a lovely place to relax, and we really enjoyed our stay. Our room was comfortable, clean, and well maintained. Staff were friendly, polite, and ready to help. Thanks for the warm hospitality. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ooty.

Don't stay at Fairstay in Ooty. I booked and fully paid five days ahead for two deluxe rooms for two families, but when we checked in on Sunday evening after sightseeing, reception gave us just one basic double room. They said it was because we were late, and that our separate deluxe rooms had been given to other people to make more money, without asking us. The room was cramped, with a small 4x5 bed. The bathroom door wouldn't lock and smelled bad all night. There was no fan, so we got bitten by mosquitoes, the water heater was off, and there was no cupboard for our bags. When I complained, the manager said we'd have to adjust for the night and promised our separate deluxe rooms the next day after checkout. We told reception we'd be sightseeing and returning that evening. The manager promised again we'd be moved to a deluxe room, but when we came back, we were given another basic room like the night before. He said he'd booked all the deluxe rooms for others while we were away. 😡😡😡

The staff were willing to help with whatever we asked, and quickly replaced the glasses when we said they smelled. But the building and its setup felt tacky, the balcony had no good view, and there wasn't anything extra beyond old, creaky wooden cupboards full of mothballs. The taps and showers need replacing.

At Amar Fairstay, the atmosphere was calm and pleasant, and the staff were friendly, polite, and ready to help. I had a wonderful stay, with delicious, fresh food that was very well prepared. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing stay and good food in ooty.
