Hotel Orchid Inn

We checked out within 90 minutes after arriving in Ooty late on 22 May'26. I’d booked three rooms for my family through Agoda, trusting the hotel photos, but the rooms looked nothing like them. Everything from the walls and beds to the washrooms was shabby and poorly maintained, and the whole place seemed unhygienic. I paid a round figure of Rs.5000 per night, though the rooms didn’t seem worth anywhere near Rs.1000. It felt like a scam, and there was nothing luxurious about the place despite the claim of luxury rooms. I wouldn’t want anyone wasting their hard-earned money this way. I asked Junaid, the Orchids Inn manager, to cancel. He told me to contact Agoda and said he’d oblige if they approved a full refund. But after speaking with Agoda’s representative, I was told Junaid wasn’t willing to refund me. That felt hypocritical. I saw him processing room requests, and he showed no regard for complaints, including those from other guests. Agoda listened patiently to my feedback about Orchids Inn, but offered only a 20% refund, which I rejected. There’s still an internal discussion going on, and I hope they give me a full refund. I think Agoda may not have personally verified Orchids Inn before adding it to the platform. If they did verify it, then something seems fishy. During that forgettable evening, all nine of us in the family needed to find another hotel, and I was lucky to find one with the essentials a tourist might need.
