Amar Mahal Orchha

The room was spacious and well kept, and the service stayed warm and attentive. I also really enjoyed the satisfying breakfast. Amar Mahal has lovely rooms with an ethnic feel alongside modern amenities, and I had a wonderful stay in Orchha.

The gardens are fabulous, and the grounds around this beautiful building are extensive. Our room was spacious and the bed comfortable, with a lovely first-floor terrace where you can look over some town sights and watch the sun set. I did feel more attention was needed inside the rooms, though. Repairs seemed to be piling up: the AC didn't work, so we had to use a dusty convection heater; the sink was cracked; the table lamp hung from its wire after the fixing screw broke; and a couple of sockets were loose enough that plugs needed jiggling. There was also a strong smell from the bathroom drains. You have to find the cleaning staff if you want your room cleaned. Staff didn't seem particularly interested in guests, and nobody gave us basic arrival details like the WiFi code or meal times. WiFi was patchy, with the signal hopping between different routers even when we stayed in one spot. This is a dry hotel.

The lawns made a huge impression on everyone in our group, and the campus felt grand, elegant, and expansive. Our MBBS 1975 batch from MLB Medical College Jhansi was celebrating its Golden Jubilee, 50 years since admission, and we spent 17 to 21 December 2025 at Amar Mahal, Orchha. We had started planning almost a year earlier and looked at hotels in both Jhansi and Orchha before choosing this one. We came back only yesterday, and we have no regrets. The rooms were large, very clean, and tastefully furnished, with lavish attached washrooms. Restaurant and room service were flawless across breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Every staff member was courteous, attentive, and keen to help, making us feel like honoured guests. The nearby flow of the Betwa and the spiritual calm of Ram Raja Temple brought a quiet grace to our celebration. General Manager Sh Sandeep Bamonia deserves particular thanks. Mr. Sandeep was personally involved, always available, and cooperative. His attention to even small details helped make the stay error-free and stress-free, and left a lasting impression on all of us. Highly recommended for group stays, celebrations, and anyone looking for comfort with royal elegance. Full marks to Amar Mahal and its outstanding team. Amar Mahal is lovely, with beautiful gardens and good cleanliness. Orchha sits by the Betwa, though the town is only semi-clean. The Raja Ram temple is similar, and the kasba-style market has narrow lanes. Medical shops are hard to find, and the population is less dense. The hotel is remote, about 18 Km from Jhansi railway station, with roughly 10-12 Km of the route passing through jungle. There are quite a few hotels, and the area would be good for film shooting.
