Hotel Paradise Inn

That bed heater was the only warm spot in the room on those freezing nights. They had it, and hot water worked well, but the room heater was switched on for just a couple of hours during our two-day stay. It was off by the middle of the night, and they wouldn’t turn it back on when we asked. The small heater they gave us barely helped, and the floor carpet was dirty. For this, the hotel was pathetic. If they’d kept the room heater running, the stay could have been completely satisfactory. The rest was good: nice location, decent food, and a great view from the window. I loved that view.

The mountain view is fantastic, especially from the dining area, and the hotel is in a premium location with pony rides just outside. Rooms are spacious, and there’s a convertible sofa bed in them. The rooms are neat, though the toilets are only okay and need more upkeep. Breakfast was nice, and room service was good. They brought hot water to our door any time, even several times, and hot water was always available for general use too. The room heater, though, only ran for a limited time and was switched off early in the morning.

Our room was next to the kitchen, so there was quite a bit of noise until late in the evening. We were also on the ground floor and looking out at the car park. For mountain views, I’d choose a higher floor. The hotel was professionally run and well maintained, and our room was large with the usual amenities. Dinner and breakfast were included in our package and both were very good. They also arranged a union cab for sightseeing, which saved us the hassle of looking around for one.

Breakfast had only a few choices, but everything we ordered tasted good. The staff were friendly and service was fine, and the room was a good size. Cleanliness was a problem: the floor, mats, and almirah were really dirty, and the washroom curtains weren’t proper. The location is about 2 km from Pahalgam main market, with very few shops and no restaurants nearby.
