OYO 11736 Venkateswara Vilasam

For a budget stay, I’d recommend this place. The staff were courteous, always around for questions, and helped with local queries. They can also arrange rented two-wheelers and four-wheelers at reasonable prices. Breakfast wasn’t up to the mark, though. One thing to know, rooms on the first floor don’t get Wi-Fi. I was happy with my stay.

There was no hot water, and we had to use a heating coil that they only gave us on the third day. They kept saying the hot water would be available in the morning. The TV in our room had no Hindi or English channels, even though the lounge TV had all the channels, so we didn’t watch TV either. I booked a room for two through Oyo Rooms when the place was just starting out. The room itself was amazing, though the decor was kind of tacky. It had a large double bed plus an extra bed for one person. I paid around rs.2500 for 3 days, 2 nights. Service was quite bad, but understandable since they were new. Venture in with care.

The rooms and restrooms were clean, and the hotel staff were very nice. It’s good value for money. The property is a little way in from the main road as you enter Pondicherry. There’s a hotel banner at the lane entrance, but it’s easy to miss if you’re not watching for it. Once you spot it, the place is only about 50mtr away.

The room was compact, airless, and suffocating, and the washroom hadn’t been cleaned. There was no breakfast or toiletries either. It was the saddest part of my trip and I found the stay pathetic. Oyo is known for bachelors, and I’d never recommend this place for families. I paid 2k per day, and I wouldn’t pay even 500 for this kind of room. Think 100 times before choosing any Oyo stay or this motel.
