Treebo Trend South Avenue Pondicherry

We could walk to pomerade beach, which is rocky and not a place to get into the water, but it's nice to sit, enjoy the view, or stroll. The VIP area, with all the government offices, faces the beach. The hotel is right opposite Pudecherry railway station, so arriving late or leaving early is easy. It has a restaurant with buffet breakfast, though the waiters aren't trained well: they put food on another diner's plate without asking, and if that person refused it, moved the food from the used plate to someone at another table. At night, there are street food vendors on the way toward the beach. I tried a frankie from one, and it was hygienic, good quality, and affordable. You won't get ola/uber because the auto unions don't allow them or other autos. Bike taxi (rapido) or an auto is a good option, while ola uber drivers ask for extra money.

The location worked really well: the hotel is right opposite pondicherry railway, the beach is 650 meters away, and White town/Mg road are under 1km. Check-in is at 1pm and checkout at 11am, though we could extend to 12PM; after checkout, we could leave our luggage at reception and come back whenever we wanted. I paid 1100 for one person for room 110, booked through red Bus. My stay was on 1st of March 2026. The room was clean, the AC and TV channels worked, and all the beverage supplies were there. I watched the india west indies quater finals in Tamil commentary without any trouble. Breakfast wasn't included, but for 200 we could get unlimited dosa and omelette at no extra cost. Mojito and other drinks under 150 were tasty and a great deal. Service was quick, and the staff were very good if you spoke to them. Seeing the 3.9 rating and all the complaints had surprised me. This was an eye opener, and I won't base future stays on reviews.

The room was grimy, and there was a dead cockroach in the bathroom. We didn't want to use the amenities or even shower. Breakfast was an average buffet with hardly 2-3 choices. The Standard Room we were given didn't match the pictures on the hotel website. If the actual photos had been shown, we wouldn't have booked. We trust Treebo to do its due diligence before listing a hotel, which is the whole point of booking through a brand like that. I can share pictures of the room we actually got.

We paid 1500 per night for two adults, which felt a bit costly. The room with a living area was good, while a room on its own was just okay. Ours had no hot water and no exhaust fan in the bathroom, and cleanliness was moderate. Still, it was a good experience overall: the staff responded well, the location was good, and I'd recommend it to friends. Fine for budget travelers.
