Hotel Rose Lodge

The location was a big plus: Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple and Shaniwar Wada are both within walking distance. Hotel Rose Lodge was a good deal for the price in Pune, especially if you’re mostly there to see the city. It’s a standard, no-frills hotel, and room service was responsive. A few small improvements would help, but for what we paid, I really can’t complain.

I noticed noise in the middle of the night, and I wouldn’t feel safe staying here with family or women. I saw women coming into the hotel briefly with men. The price is cheap if you only need somewhere to stay during the day, but the staff weren’t supportive, the property wasn’t clean, and the washrooms were very dirty. I was told rooms are provided for local red-light services.

It’s in Pune’s red-light area, but the service was up to the mark and the restaurant food was good. Women aren’t allowed in the restaurant because they serve drinks, though room service is available. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful. A good place for the price.

Be careful if you’re not an Indian national. We had paid a week ahead through Agoda, but when we arrived, they said non-Indians couldn’t stay. They wouldn’t cancel the booking and told us to do it ourselves, which would have stopped us getting a refund. We called the police. I feel they scammed us.
