We were only a few minutes’ walk from the town centre, so the location worked perfectly. The staff were friendly and very helpful arranging a taxi for our next destination. The room itself was basic, and there was no sink in the bathroom. The beds were comfortable, though, and the AC and fan kept us cool.

The people working there were really nice and tried to help with things like finding a scooter to hire or getting an Indian SIM. The room was a different story: it got very hot, with only a ceiling fan and no air-conditioning. The bed and pillow were very hard too.

Chacha’s garden has a nice vibe, and Cha Cha is very friendly. It’s a decent budget-trip option, though the food is just okay and may not always be available.

The owner of the Chacha is a very nice man, but we left feeling deeply disappointed with the hotel. We stayed one night, and the next morning a younger staff member led us toward the lake when we were going into town for breakfast. There we were drawn into what we felt was a “brahman” ceremony scam. We were willing to donate, but after taking 500 rupees from us, the people calling themselves Brahmans still abused us for not giving enough. It felt dishonest, and we were very disappointed that the hotel had arranged for this to happen to its guests. Don’t fall for it.

The puppy was super cute, and the food was excellent. Great atmosphere too.
