The food is delicious, and chef Harish makes a superb mint chutney. The staff also helped carry our bags up from the road, since you have to walk uphill to reach the property. My family and I stayed in December, and sitting beside the bonfire at night brought Ruskin Bond stories to mind. The cottages are spaced apart, so there’s privacy, and there are lots of corners to explore with amazing Himalayan views. The place is well maintained, with clean rooms, and a lovely spot to slow down and enjoy mountain life.

This was an uncomfortable and frustrating stay that failed basic standards for service, safety, hygiene, and transparency. The tents were old, poorly maintained, and unhygienic. The area has reptiles, and a large rodent got into our tent at night. Nobody came to help despite repeated attempts to reach staff. It felt unsafe and distressing, and we couldn’t rest. There was no ceiling fan, only one pedestrian fan. Power backup was available only at night, and the tents became too hot. The manager, Jagdeep Rawat, was rude and unprofessional, dismissing our concerns. At checkout, guests have to coordinate billing with restaurant staff, which creates confusion and no clear accountability. From 9:00 PM until 8:30 AM there was no staff response, even for urgent needs, and calls went unanswered. Getting there is a physically demanding 20-25 minute trek up a steep hill, a detail not shared in advance. Help carrying luggage isn’t offered unless specifically requested, so guests may have to wait for staff to come down. The property is remote, with basic services and attractions at least 8-10 km away. There’s no designated parking, either. Guests leave cars on the public roadside at their own risk and without guidance or security, so calling it “free parking” is misleading. With no nearby food alternatives, guests are effectively pushed to eat at the property. Prices were significantly inflated and the menu options very limited. The billing was concerning too: we initially got only a handwritten (kaccha) bill even though GST was charged. A proper GST invoice came only after repeated follow-ups, and first they sent an outdated bill before providing a correct one after we confronted them. This raises serious concerns about transparency and compliance. Additionally, everywhere in Uttarakhand, everyone is charging 5% GST on food bills, but this place charged 18% GST. I strongly advise potential visitors to reconsider booking, especially at this cost.

The views and surroundings were beautiful, and the staff made a great first impression. They were the friendliest, and service stayed attentive and efficient even at this steep altitude. The food was good and great value for money. I was very pleased with the resort and hope to return for a longer visit. Everything about it was exceptional.

The trek up to the hotel is exhausting, and they have no arrangements for senior citizens. You can call ahead to arrange a palki, but it costs an extra ₹1500/-, which is really bad. They describe it as a 4 start property, yet these arrangements feel like pure loot. Very bad service. The Uttarakhand government is worst too, charging taxes at every corner. Shame on Uttrakhand government.

The property itself is really good, with lots of open space, a bonfire, clear skies, and a welcome break from Delhi’s clutter. Food was very tasty, though there wasn’t much variety since it was off season. It’s tucked in a forest, and getting there means parking on the road and climbing almost 500 meters because there’s no motorable road. It feels fairly safe despite being isolated, but I did feel a little concerned.
