What upset me most was being questioned about our documents in a rude way after we arrived. I felt insulted by how we were asked to show them, and the manager and lobby staff came across as rude and unprofessional. I understand hotels may ask for ID, marriage certificates, or a child’s ID. That’s fine, but guests should be told respectfully. I’ve stayed at many reputed five-star hotels and travelled internationally, and I’ve never had people speak to me this unpleasantly. I’m hurt and dissatisfied with the service. If zero stars were possible, I’d choose that.
Only after a relative stepped in were we allowed to check in. The staff said this was the owner’s policy and didn’t cooperate even after I explained that we were a family. The way they dealt with us in front of my family felt embarrassing and offensive. I’d booked one night for two adults through Goibibo at Hotel Samdariya Gold, and the request for ID at check-in was normal. But because my wife’s Aadhaar showed a Rewa address, they demanded our marriage certificate or wedding photos, despite our travelling with our 7-year-old child. In all my hotel stays in India and abroad, I’d never faced this. The behavior showed very poor hospitality, and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel to families or couples.
The buffet breakfast was far too salty. Idli, Upma, bread-butter, Sabudana, nearly everything, had too much salt, and everyone in our family felt the same. Please prepare it normally. The room itself was lovely, very clean, and the bedsheets and blankets were properly washed. The property was well maintained. Management, though, disappointed us: for two adults they gave us just two 500 ml water bottles. We were on a 12-day tour, and every other hotel supplied either two 1-liter bottles or four 500 ml ones. Reception said that two half-liter bottles was all they provided. With such a premium room price, that kind of cost cutting looks cheap.
The reception was arrogant and the staff had no manners when speaking to guests. Worst service, and the worst hotel I’ve seen in India.
The food was awful. The Poori was so hard it was difficult to break, and the Gulab jamun tasted bitter, like it had been made in old used oil. Service was the worst part, with very rude staff. Worst service I’ve ever experienced.
