Tolpoi, the house caretaker, really made the stay, and his home-cooked food is worth trying. Baneen and her daughter are warm hosts. Bate Papo has lovely interiors and the feel of an authentic Portuguese home, and it’s one of the few places that’s truly pet friendly. It’s in a slightly secluded neighborhood, though some of the best restaurants are just a short walk away. A must visit if you’re planning to stay in North Goa.
We didn’t bring our pets this time, but still loved the property’s authentic feel and what it offered for experiencing life in Goa. Bate Papo really does feel like a home away from home, with lovely people and a natural setting. Baneen made my family and me feel safe and comfortable, and Tolpai was brilliant at cooking and looking after us. My daughter had a wonderful time with her new friend Zoya, and we all loved the two cute house pets, spots and coke. I picked the place based on the reviews and was glad I did. Definitely recommend it. Thanks, Baneen, for being such a wonderful host!
The entrance looks unremarkable at first and might put you off, but inside, the owners’ thoughtful details make the house feel warm and cozy. The wall murals and Goan heritage style are lovely. Tolpai, the caretaker, is one of the sweetest and most helpful people you’ll meet at a homestay. And the highlight was a delicious lunch put together by the owner Rohit himself. The best continental food we’ve ever had. If you want a quiet, comfortable, cozy Goa vacation, this place is for you.
The Turkish eggs are pure comfort, creamy labneh with soft poached eggs, and so good I could eat them every day. Bate Papo has become one of our favorite places in Goa. There’s a genuine warmth from the team and throughout the space, and they really love dogs. That matters a lot when your dog is easily triggered and needs a calm, pet-friendly place. We leave Pepper there when we go, and I think she likes it more than coming along with us, haha. Love to the whole team. Can’t wait to return.
The entrance can confuse Google sometimes, but once you find the place, the stay is pleasant. Tolpoi is like someone out of P.G.Wodehouse's Jeeves novels: he appears when needed, brings just what you asked for, then disappears. Rohit and Baneen are welcoming hosts, and a special thanks to Rohit for introducing me to rock climbing. We stayed for a quiet vacation and got what we expected. It’s a quaint heritage property, with architecture that recalls old Portuguese Goa. Definitely recommend it if you enjoy homestays and heritage places.
