Hotel Moti Mahal by OYO Rooms

Hotel Moti Mahal is in Sarnath, near Samrat Ashok Public School, and about 1 km from the Giant Buddha Statue, Chaukhandi Stupa and Sarnath's spiritual sites. It's a 3-star hotel with around 22 rooms. Rooms have air-conditioning, a flat-screen TV and a seating or dressing area. Amenities include free toiletries, parking, an electric kettle, breakfast and Wi-Fi. Reviews are mixed. Some guests praise the clean, spacious and comfortable rooms, helpful and hospitable staff, complimentary breakfast and easy access to nearby historical spots. Others report a remote location that makes central Varanasi less convenient, stained linens, poor cleanliness, bathroom maintenance and plumbing problems, and weak service. Some have suggested bringing personal toiletries and mosquito repellent because of reported hygiene and facility gaps. It may suit budget travelers who value being close to Sarnath's historic sites and don't mind a tucked-away location. Comfort and basic amenities are among its strengths. If impeccable cleanliness and top-notch service matter most, other accommodation may be a better fit.

Unclean rooms, unhelpful staff and many amenities that were missing or didn't work properly made this a very disappointing stay. The hotel didn't meet expectations and wasn't worth the price. I wouldn't recommend it.

We went with family but left the room within four hours. It smelled bad and the beds were very dirty. The property was hard to find, tucked deep inside a residential area, and there was no parking space. The staff weren't helpful at all. Booking this was one of our worst decisions, and it's one of the worst properties in Varanasi.

The room wasn't clean, and the washroom was tiny.
