The Grand Solitaire Hotel

The staff are friendly and well behaved, and the service is very good. The room and hotel need better upkeep, especially the furniture, sanitation, and interiors. At a good price, I’d rate this as a three-star hotel.

A practical, budget-friendly place if you’ll be out sightseeing or visiting offices or hospitals. There’s plenty of free parking and breakfast is included, though I’d eat lunch and dinner at nearby restaurants. The rooms are okay, but the washrooms need working exhaust fans and soap holders by the sinks. It should do for a day or two while taking care of business in Hyderabad.

The room felt dirty as soon as we arrived, with dust across the floor. There was fungus on the bathroom walls and I saw a cockroach crawling around. The windows were filthy too, and the A/C didn’t work properly, so the room was uncomfortable. This was a disgusting, unhygienic stay and felt like a health risk. I regret booking here and would choose somewhere else.

The building is old, so it doesn’t feel new, but the hallways and washroom were clean, and the room and bathroom were spacious. The front desk was polite and room service was good. The AC worked well, though by morning it was dripping water into the room, which wasn’t a big deal. The floors and wall paint in the rooms could use attention. My ten-year-old son and I stayed just one night. Getting in from the road was easy and there’s ample car parking. I’d stay again without a problem, and it suits people looking for an affordable hotel. For a more memorable experience, it’s not a great choice.
