The pool is a real highlight, especially since it’s quite large for such a small hotel. This shabby chic, 10-room boutique place was a restful stop on our Goa tour, with a nice breakfast and a menu of snacks and salads. Shivali and her lovely, polite, ever-vigilant team made us feel welcome and relaxed. It’s laid back, but close to an excellent range of high-end restaurants and fabulous beaches, and about a 90-minute drive from the airport. Overall, an overly place to stay!

If you love history, this is a must-stay. The building is over 300 years old, and the large rooms have antique furniture that fits the whole atmosphere. Quiet spaces add to the tranquility. There’s a beautiful courtyard with a well, which is an experience in itself, plus a small pool that’s fine for a soak but too small for a workout. There’s seating around it, a gandola, and a little massage room with a single bed. The location could be better for those who aren’t history lovers.

We stayed six nights after travelling around elsewhere in India, to get some time to relax. It really is the epitome of a “Heritage boutique hotel.” The team were friendly and helpful with any requests, and the food was excellent.
