Chevron Rosemount

I loved the peaceful forest setting and the vintage character of this 150-year-old hotel. The atmosphere, location, and old-world charm made for an amazing stay, especially for anyone who enjoys nature and historic surroundings. The food was just okay, and there were no Jain options. They also didn’t provide extra heaters, which would have made things more comfortable.

We stopped here for lunch. It’s quite a way down the hill, so don’t worry if you feel lost, just follow the maps. There’s ample parking, and you’ll get there. The scenic surroundings are lovely, and I hope the stay is just as good. We had kaali daal, baigain, and kumaun raita, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy them. The daal had loads of flavour, with more daal and less unnecessary butter and cream. It was simply cooked well, with a spoon of ghee. Relish it!

The homestyle meals were a highlight for me, comforting and thoughtfully prepared, with a real sense of care. Service at Hotel Chevron Rosemount was courteous without intruding, and the open lawns and sit-out areas made it easy to read, talk, or just sit with tea in the mountain air. The whole place has an old-world simplicity that suits its surroundings. It’s calm and warm rather than flashy, and the atmosphere is made for rest. Its elevated, peaceful location offers uninterrupted Himalayan views. On clear days, seeing Trishul and Nanda Devi at sunrise is magical, and the snow-covered peaks keep changing color until sunset. Hotel Chevron Rosemount, Ranikhet is a lovely choice if you’re after peace, scenery, and heartfelt hospitality. Nature takes center stage, the food leaves you content, and time seems to move more gently.

The property feels as if time has stopped. You can catch glimpses of distant peaks and nearby birds, wander among the flora, or spend time with the pets. The old wooden staircase, antique furniture, and working fireplaces in the rooms give this former colonial bungalow, now a quaint hotel, its old-world character. It sits deep in the cantonment forest, reached by a winding private road that leads to private parking. Expect sunny breakfasts on the lawn and cozy evenings by the fireplace in your room.
