Saagar Sangam Resort

The views were the highlight of our peaceful family stay. From the shared balcony we could watch the sunrise and look out over the Karli backwaters. The spacious rooms were clean and comfortable, especially for kids, and they helped us connect with reliable boating and water sports teams. The food was average, with limited choices, and meals need to be requested a day ahead. Nearby homestays have more food options. A nice, calm place for families who value the views.

The rooms at Sagar Sangam Hotel in Malvan were clean, comfortable, and well maintained, so that part of the stay was pleasant. The food, though, was very disappointing and expensive. Bamboo Hotel, a well-known place in Malvan, offers a full Surmai thali for around ₹420, while here Sagar Sangam charged ₹500 for a single small piece of Surmai fry. The portions and value didn’t come close. There was also a small service problem: at 6:45 AM, a staff member knocked on my door by mistake, thinking it was another room. It wasn’t a major incident, but it disturbed the morning and suggested poor coordination. Between the overpriced, unsatisfactory food and these service lapses, this didn’t feel like good value for money in Malvan.

The restaurant service was slow, and the rooms were visibly old and poorly maintained. Boat packages also cost much more than similar nearby options. For vegetarians, it’s a big disappointment. Guests are treated poorly, and food is brought cold from somewhere else and served without care. There also seems to be GST malpractice: they add GST to handwritten bills for home-cooked food, despite not operating a full restaurant or providing a proper GST invoice.

The balcony has an amazing view, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. There’s also an in-house restaurant. The main drawback is the lack of good vegetarian food options. One of the best places to stay in Tarkarli Devbag.
