The Bhowmick's Bungalow

The heritage bungalow has a lot of character, with greenery around it, and my room was spacious and clean. But the stay was disappointing. Breakfast choices were very limited, mostly bread, and meals felt overpriced for local standards. They didn’t coordinate around the guest schedule or let me know, so I missed my meal. When I raised it, the owner lady was rude and unprofessional. For the price, I expected better value and more professionalism. The homestay atmosphere may suit some, but anyone wanting privacy and hotel-like service may not find it a good fit.

Stayed here with my sibling and loved all the greens and flowers around the property. It’s right in the heart of town.

We expected more, so the overall experience was only okay, though the old bungalow itself was quite nice. It has been redesigned to host guests, with standard rooms and suites. The owner stays on the property in a separate room. This isn’t like some homestays where you can cook or come and go freely. Food is available for a charge if you order, or you can get it from nearby restaurants, Swiggy, or Zomato. There were foreign guests when we visited, and the place often hosts them. Breakfast was included, with a cup of tea.

The house and garden are nicely kept, and it feels like an oasis in the old part of Tezpur. My room was a bit small for the price I paid. He seems to have a room next to the garden, too. I had to leave early the next morning, and the owner was flexible about preparing breakfast then. I’ve already booked another stay.
