Grand Gardenia

At Kannappa Restaurant – Hotel Gardnia, the veg meals were very tasty, with excellent sambar, urundai kuzhambu, keerai, rasam and buttermilk. Mutton Thalakari also tasted very good and came in a generous portion. The fish BBQ was excellent, with 7-8 pieces, and the Lemon Fish Tikka was superb with a good quantity. BBQ Chicken was good in both taste and portion. The Mutton Biryani wasn't to our taste, more like tamarind rice, though the mutton pieces were okay. The ambiance was comfortable and pleasant. They have plenty of parking and manage large crowds efficiently. A great choice for BBQ and veg meals, especially for groups.

I had a very unpleasant stay. My room had mold, so I wouldn't recommend it to people with asthma. Although it was booked for two, there were toiletries for only one guest, and I had to call to ask for more. The staff seemed indifferent. I told them I had an early flight and would check out at 3am, but repeated calls to reception went unanswered. When I went downstairs, the staff were asleep. The hotel also didn't answer calls or email queries. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The rooms are worn out and old, and the hotel is right on the highway, with constant traffic and horn noise. There's also a leaflet in the room listing the price of every item in it, something I've never seen in a hotel anywhere. Pathetic.

I stayed last Friday night and was greeted by a friendly woman at the counter who helped us well. Breakfast was superb, and the staff provided good service overall. Looking forward to visiting again next year.
