For a budget, the single non-AC room was clean. I can't comment on family stays, though I did see families there, so it seemed okay. Keep in mind that the Wi-Fi coverage is poor, and you'd want AC in summer.

For a temple visit to Tiruchirappalli, I booked the non-AC room at Hotel Star City for 900rs. It's only about an 8-minute walk from Chatram Bus Stand, and I needed the room just for two hours to freshen up. The staff were friendly, but the room had cockroaches and bugs all over the toilet, and the bedsheets weren't clean. The hygiene and cleanliness really need to be better.

The room was clean and looked much like the pictures, though it was a bit small. We had a non-AC room with a built-in geaser and a TV, but there was no cable connection. It's near arivalayam, tucked into a small street corner. There were lots of mosquitoes, so sleeping was uncomfortable. For the price, it wasn't worth it.

There were tons of mosquitoes, the room wasn't clean enough, and they didn't provide any bed sheets. The location was inconvenient, too. I'd definitely avoid this hotel.
