The rooms were good, and housekeeping was quick and reliable. Mr.Muthukumar and Mr.Manikandan made things especially comfortable with their prompt, quality service. The front desk was pleasant too, and Mr.Sampath Rao, the GM, handled even small problems quickly and with real care for guests. We were friends coming from Chennai, USA and Singapore, staying from 22/12 to 26/12. We avoid onion and garlic, which was hard to manage in Tutocorin, but Mr.Sampath Rao arranged good-quality vegetarian food without either at their resturant. The main drawback was the shower. The toilet and washbasin were good, but the shower area was awkward without a wall tap. Water comes straight down heavily from the ceiling as soon as it is switched on, so bathing in that small space without getting your head wet is difficult. The sliding shower doors also need smoother, lighter movement. Management should gradually add taps and hand showers to the bathrooms and replace those doors. Aside from this, the hotel gave us good comfort and service.

The adjoining restaurant deserves a mention: its food is good, and they take special care with 100% satvic meals if you pre-order, including for the complimentary breakfast. We stayed seven nights, and the hospitality under GM SAMPATH RAO was par excellent. The whole team seemed committed to doing their best for both first-time and returning guests. A pleasant stay, and I hope the team in Kani keeps making that difference and serving guests in such a cut above the rest manner.

People know the hotel for its vegetarian restaurant, but the rooms are neat and so popular they tend to get booked before the others in the city. The welcome is warm, and the staff are courteous. That deserves a special mention.

I’ve been coming back to Kani Residency for years and have grown attached to the place. Mr Sampath, Ms Mekala, Mr Britto, Ms Priya and the rest of the staff always make each visit memorable. The rooms, location and service are all excellent.

If you need to arrive before noon, I can't recommend this totel. I reached at 4am after booking a room for 11 am, but reception gave a very bad response and didn't even try to understand what I was saying. I was left waiting outside on the road with my 3year old child while looking for another hotel. Book online and check in by12 if that works for your plans. Thoothukudi is not for beginners trip.
