The one good thing about Gajkaran Haveli is its location near lake Pichhola, with restaurants within walking distance. Everything else made this my worst hotel experience so far. We paid an exceptionally high price in December peak season, yet the tiny rooms had no hot water, towels, or toiletries. The washrooms were very small and had no geyser, and we had to keep asking staff for basic supplies. The TV didn't work either. There was nobody at reception to handle questions. Staff were few and seemed untrained. At that price, basic hot water should have been available. In the off season, the same amount could get you a 5 star hotel.

The owner was helpful, friendly, quick to respond, and happy to accommodate requests. We enjoyed our short stay, especially the lake-facing windows. Room 101 looks toward the bridge, which is lit at night and quiet. The bathrooms were simple but fine, with hot showers. WiFi was slow, and the rooms could use some freshening up, though for the price we thought it was a great stay. If this was useful, please click Like!

The only upsides were Wi-Fi and being close to lake Pichhola. Otherwise, this was my worst hotel experience so far. The rooms and washrooms were tiny, there was no geyser or hot water for winter bathing, and basic items like towels and toiletries were missing. The blankets were dirty, and they had no spare pillows or towels. There was no cable connection, the power went out, and when our window broke, nobody got it repaired. There was no one at reception to help. They seemed to have only one or two helpers. All the good reviews about this hotel are totally fake!!!

Gajkaran Haveli is right in the heart of the city, surrounded by markets and restaurants. We had a lovely time there, and the staff made us feel very welcome. My German wife, our dog, and I stayed in a beautiful room with a panoramic lake view, a workspace, and lockable storage. The rooftop restaurant looks out over the lake, a wonderful spot for morning chai. Thank you!

Please don't book this property. They accepted our reservation, then cancelled it just before my trip, and MakeMyTrip informed me. I had called ahead to check whether they could host us on those dates; the manager said they could and made promises that turned out to be false. I have proof of the call. This felt deeply unprofessional and dishonest. I repeat, avoid booking here.
