I booked after seeing positive online reviews, but for roughly ₹13,000 a night the stay was only okay. The rooms were decent and fairly comfortable, though nothing special for that price. Breakfast was the biggest letdown: the spread, quality, and dining experience felt below what the tariff should get you. The towels had a noticeable yellowish tinge, giving the impression they hadn’t been washed or maintained properly. Housekeeping needs work, since cleanliness is a basic expectation at this rate. Other hotels in the same bracket, such as Radisson Blu, offer much better breakfast and service. If this property wants to charge a premium, its food and housekeeping need serious attention. I don’t think it meets 4-star standards. Having booked on the strength of online reviews, this experience made it harder for me to trust travel-site ratings. I hope management takes the feedback constructively and improves the guest experience.

We felt welcomed like family from the moment we arrived at Manuscript Udaipur, and the whole team made the stay unforgettable with warm, genuine, thoughtful hospitality. The property overlooks the City Palace, with a surreal, dreamlike view. The rooftop restaurant is a highlight, with breathtaking scenery and a lovely atmosphere that makes dining feel special. A heartfelt thanks to the owners and team for putting together such a beautiful stay. Deepak ji was kind and supportive throughout. Mr. Ravindra also deserves a big mention: his old city tour was an experience in itself, and his stories, insight, and passion brought Udaipur’s history to life. Manuscript Udaipur is somewhere to feel, experience, and remember. Highly, highly recommended.

The rooftop bar has a million-dollar view and great vibes, and the old city location is fantastic, with City Palace within walking distance. The styling and branding feel upmarket, and the staff are very sweet. The food was tasty overall, but the potatoes in the dum aloo were undercooked and the Chicken Kathi roll was a disaster. It’s expensive, so the food should be top quality.

The rooftop palace views were lovely, the beds were very comfortable, and the central location made all the main sights easy to reach on foot. Even in the middle of a busy city, the hotel was surprisingly peaceful with little city noise. Be aware, though, that there are more than 30 steps to the entrance, which could be difficult with mobility issues, heavy luggage, or trouble managing stairs. Noise disrupted our stay. In Room 307, we kept hearing what sounded like furniture being moved overhead, past midnight, again from around 6:30am, and once more when we came back to rest in the afternoon. I went upstairs and found a storeroom above us. Staff went in and out, worked there, and rested between jobs, which explained the ongoing noise. I asked reception to move us, but the front desk staff weren’t very engaging. We were shifted to another room on Level 1 without any conversation. The location, comfort, and rooftop views give the hotel real potential, but the noise, lack of proactive service, and many steps made the experience less enjoyable. Better room allocation and more attentive front desk interaction would improve the stay.

Manuscript - Jhilwara Haveli offers a quiet, high-end retreat amid the historic Old City, for travellers who want a palace-like feel with the intimacy of a boutique hotel. It’s in the narrow, history-filled lanes of Bhattiyani Chohatta, just steps from the City Palace. The haveli dates to 1910 and began as the Jhilwara family's private home; over the years it became a school, a nursery, and even a poultry farm before its careful restoration. The family descends from the Solanki Rajput clan. The “Manuscript” idea treats the property as a living story or unfinished work of art. Mewari heritage sits alongside a contemporary artistic mood: stone carvings and large courtyards mix with curated libraries and a calm setting meant to inspire creativity. Once inside the gates, the Old City's chaos fades. The green central courtyard feels tranquil, and guests often single out live morning flute (Basuri) music. The look combines minimalist style with classic Rajasthani touches, making corners feel like an art gallery while still warm and homelike. Dining is a major strength. Page Break Restaurant serves Indian, Italian, and Japanese dishes, and guests praise the live breakfast kitchen for made-to-order burgers and local specialties. The rooftop bar and restaurant, To Be Discussed (TBD), has a romantic candlelit setting and panoramic views across City Palace and the Old City skyline. Food is considered better than standard tourist fare, with quality and presentation called out. Service is personal and attentive, with staff such as Tulsi often mentioned for going the extra mile. The team may arrange birthday cakes and bouquets or help guests navigate the Old City's restricted “no-traffic” zones. Female travellers and groups often say they feel especially safe and well cared for by the polite, professional staff. Rooms are described as spacious, very clean, and thoughtfully designed, with quality linens and modern bathrooms that meet “Western standards.” Since cars often can’t reach the door in this restricted traffic area, the hotel coordinates auto-rickshaws to move luggage. Most guests find that minor inconvenience well managed. Highlights include the rooftop dinner view and morning flute music. A strong fit for couples seeking romance, art lovers, and heritage enthusiasts.
