Panna Villas Udaipur

We had booked a table, but the manager warned us to arrive by 7:30 because it was peak time and they might give it to someone else. We were coming for dinner, so of course we planned around that, but traffic could have delayed us. This was especially frustrating because we’d been coming here since 2022 and the food used to be amazing. For my husband’s birthday dinner, we ordered malai kofta in white gravy. It was awful, like cashews blended with salt and poured over the kofta, with a taste and texture like baby food. It didn’t seem cooked at all. The whole experience was horrific, and we ended up going to McD.

There was black water in the toilet flush in the morning, though it cleared after several flushes. The toilet seat was cracked too. They sent someone to look at it when we checked in, but I think that should have been sorted beforehand. Otherwise, we had a good stay: the rooms were spacious and clean, and breakfast was good. The lake-facing rooms didn’t seem worthwhile to us since a road runs between the hotel and the lake.

The location and food were good, but we expected much better from the most expensive room of our Rajasthan trip, at around 10K ₹ per night. We’d booked the Imperial Heritage Room for two nights and ran into several problems. Hot water took 10-15 minutes to come through, then turned cold again within 10 minutes before stopping altogether, so we had to ask for a bucket of hot water to finish bathing. There was fungus on the walls, and the ceiling fan made a strange noise at low speed that kept us from sleeping. The room lighting was also so poor that getting ready was difficult. The manager didn’t accept the issues and wasn’t willing to compensate us.

The food was authentic and tasty, and the ambience was great. It’s right on the main road with a direct view of fateh sagar lake. My experience was 10 out of 10. A hotel worth visiting.
