Those drives through the reserve were lovely even when we weren't looking at tigers. We spotted them on two of our four outings, and got some great views, so we were lucky. Our naturalist Yash joined us in a private open jeep and made the trips even better. He was friendly, knew a lot, happily answered all our questions, and clearly loves his work. At Samode Safari Lodge, the rooms were roomy and tastefully done, with a luxurious safari feel. The grounds sit beautifully in nature, and there’s a small fitness area and a big, inviting pool. Dinner was excellent, with a different Indian menu and a surprise location each night. All the staff were lovely and took great care of us, including with our special requests. This was one of the best hotel stays I’ve had, and I’d happily come back. One thing to know, phones aren’t allowed in the tiger reserve, so bring a separate camera if you want photos.

I’ve been on safari in a lot of countries, and I know I’ll remember this place fondly. The lodge is beautiful, the rooms are gorgeous, the food was expertly cooked, and the service was stellar. We had great safari drives each day. We didn’t see a tiger because the weather was unusual, though guests who visited before the bad weather did. My one regret is how packed the safari schedule is. There’s hardly time to relax and enjoy the cottage, main lodge, or pool.

The safari guide was fantastic and really knew his stuff, and the food was delicious. We spent two nights here while visiting Bandhavargh for safari, but wished we had booked more time. The room was gorgeous and had everything we needed, the pool was a lovely place to unwind, and the staff were so attentive and helpful. Such a great stay.
