Ganga Darshanam Guest House

I’ve stayed at Ganga Darshnam Guest House twice, two months apart, with my daughter. Kashi was completely new to us, but Amit Ji, who manages the guest house, guided us so well that we didn’t run into a single problem. He’s humble, patient, cooperative, and helpful, and his manner makes it easy to ask him for guidance or assistance. I really appreciate the support he gives guests. After visiting once, I think people would want to return because of his nature. The other staff members are supportive too.

The staff were polite, cooperative, and always willing to help, which made the stay especially pleasant. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and clean. I stayed at Ganga Darshan Guest House for a day on 8th March 2026. There was a small problem with the washroom light at first, but it sorted itself out after a while and wasn’t much trouble. Good service and comfortable rooms 👍

The room was clean, comfortable, and very good, and room service was excellent. We also enjoyed the food, which came in good portions. It’s very close to Dashashwamedh Ghat, which was convenient. I wasn’t sure about the place at first because the corridor leading to the hotel was narrow.

I was there for three nights with my family, and it was a terrible stay. We paid a lot and the hotel was absolutely disgusting. I don’t understand how MakeMyTrip approved or verified this property, and this experience has made me lose confidence in MMT’s verification standards. I wouldn’t recommend it, especially to families or elderly travellers. There are much better options in Varanasi, so avoid this one at all costs. The hotel is in a narrow, dirty, extremely crowded lane. Vehicles and rickshaws can’t come within a 1 km radius, so we had to carry all our luggage on foot through heavy crowds. One of my parents is elderly and has difficulty walking, which made it even more stressful. Since there’s no choice but to hire a rickshaw, they overcharge and exploit tourists. The property is in terrible condition. The lift feels unsafe, as if it could fall apart. We found cockroaches in the room and bedbugs under the mattress. The washroom lock didn’t work, and there was no handwash or body wash. When the geyser was on, the sink tap gave only boiling hot water, making it unusable. There’s no balcony or proper view from the window, just an abandoned looking residential area that seemed dirty and unmaintained. The staff were extremely rude and unprofessional. They kept pushing their overpriced cab services, boat rides, and even sarees from their own shop. If you refused, their behaviour turned unpleasant. We asked for an electric kettle because my elderly parents need hot water every morning, but were told all the kettles were “broken”. That left us relying on the restaurant, where it took at least 15 minutes each time.
