Hotel Renuka by OYO Rooms

I arrived late at night and paid ₹1200 for a filthy, smelly non-AC room, though Agoda lists it for only ₹740. The old rooms were unhygienic and full of mosquitoes, with no basic repellent provided. When I asked for one, the attender said it was against their policy. They charged ₹25 for one bottle of water and wouldn't provide even basic complimentary items. The bedsheet had oily stains. When I asked for a clean one, the attender said, “it’s okay, no problem,” and didn't replace it. There was no sense of hospitality or service here. Total scam, avoid this hotel.

Rooms are allocated by bidding, according to my experience. If you offer more than their standard price, the room is yours. We were charged for AC and hot water, but had neither. When we questioned him, he said, “Who will use AC?” I also heard existing customers complaining about hot water, and his own CC cameras are evidence of many such incidents. The service was pathetic. Please avoid this hotel.

I stopped short of paying the booking amount, and a dispute I saw between the reception and a family made me rethink staying here. There were also people at the hotel pushing guests to check in, saying Hotel renuka was better than other places. I wouldn't call it value for money, and the receptionist needs to learn how to deal with customers. Even with an AC room booked, you may be asked to pay extra. The same person told me, “Ac kaun use karta he,” a line someone had mentioned in an earlier review. Assi Ghat is about 1.5 km away and has decent homestays at much more affordable prices. I also doubt the five-star reviews are genuine; they seem to be from people connected to the place.

We arrived with our family and were left waiting, then treated harshly and turned away. They said rooms were available, but made us wait and negotiated with us over an AC room. In the end, they gave rooms to another family for no clear reason. The AC in our room also didn't work properly. They were demanding, called us names, and weren't friendly or responsible. It was a terrible experience, and I wouldn't go there expecting a good stay.
