International Travellers Hostel

I spent four days here during my Benaras trip and found it a good, affordable place for backpackers, with a homely feel. The open kitchen makes simple home-style meals, which I liked personally. I slept in a bunk, and the rooms, beds, and washrooms were clean and hygienic. Lockers were handy for valuables. Caretakers Vikash and Rajesh were friendly and helpful, and with the owner living in the same building, the place felt safe and well managed. It’s near Varanasi Railway Station and about 5 km from Kashi Vishwanath Temple, with autos and cabs easy to find. There’s a geyser, washing machine, terrace, garden, and a pleasant shared seating area. I’d recommend it to solo travelers and backpackers visiting Benaras.

We arrived very late, just as the restaurant was nearly closing, but they stayed open for us. The meal was excellent, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We only spent one night there, but had already booked another stay for after our safari. We’re very happy to return.

The New Year’s Eve celebration at ITH (International Traveller Hostel), Varanasi was lively and well organized. We were invited to join in and had a great time, which made our New Year in Varanasi even more special. I stayed there for two days, and the well-kept property had the amenities we needed for an easy, comfortable visit. Its location very close to Varanasi Junction was convenient too. Ranjit and Vikas were especially helpful, sorting out a couple of things and going out of their way to make our trip smooth. Their warm, supportive approach made the place feel personal. I’d recommend ITH for the comfortable stay and friendly hospitality, and would gladly return.

The main drawback in the private room was the automatic commode’s jet, which had such low pressure that it was uncomfortable to clean properly. One bedside socket was faulty and another had come loose, so using them didn’t feel safe, though we managed somehow. The TV was oddly tiny for a high-tech private room, and it didn’t work. On the plus side, I spent the first two days in that double room and found it beautiful, with modern features. They welcomed us warmly and served a tasty breakfast. The spacious open common area had lovely evening lighting and was good for sitting, eating, or hanging out. I also stayed one day in a dorm bed, which was comfortable.
