Hotel Ivory Grand

The hotel is on Muttil’s main road, which is a good location. The suite was quite nice, though its TV didn’t work either. The non-AC rooms were in poor shape, with unclean beds and little upkeep, and the TV in those rooms was useless. There’s a lot they need to improve.

It’s easy to park here, and the setting is peaceful, between the city centre and the outskirts. My room had everything I needed, including a TV, blankets, towels, pillows, water and soap, and it was all within budget. The rooms were clean, the location was great, and the receptionist was much friendlier than at many hotels. A decent choice for families or solo travellers.

The rooms were clean and looked after, with wardrobes and small bedside storage desks. The washrooms were hygienic, and reception answered our questions quickly. Staff were helpful and attentive, going the extra mile with food and tourist services to help our trip go smoothly. It’s affordable and sits between Sultan bathery and Kalapetta, about equally distant from the tourist spots. They provided everything we needed. Really nice overall, and we had a safe, enjoyable stay.

There’s no kitchen, so you have to rely on the outside market for everything. Service was poor, with no drinking water provided and no intercom to call for help. The rooms are parts of a three-bedroom apartment, each with its own room number, and the common hall is shared. It only really works if you book all three rooms. Then you get the sofa hall to hang out in without bothering anyone in their room. Otherwise, I wouldn’t accept the setup. It’s mainly a party place. The price is very competitive, though, and fair for what you get.
